Bio Technology
Bio-toilet technology is rapidly emerging as a popular sanitation solution in rural and urban Africa. This trend has been accelerated by initiatives like the World Bank-funded Sanitation and Water Project, which aims to improve sanitation in low-income urban areas.
In 2011, the Water, Sanitation & Hygiene program launched the Reinvent the Toilet Challenge to stimulate the development of innovative toilet technologies that can safely and effectively manage human waste. This challenge, initiated by Bill Gates, seeks to:

-
Protect public health: Reduce the spread of diseases caused by human waste.
-
Promote sustainable sanitation: Develop technologies that minimize environmental impact and resource consumption.
-
Enhance affordability: Create affordable sanitation solutions accessible to low-income communities.
-
Foster innovation: Encourage the development of cutting-edge sanitation technologies.
The Reinvent the Toilet Challenge has led to over 25 groundbreaking technologies, including our own bio-toilet system. Our solution leverages a natural biological process, utilizing bacteria to decompose organic waste in an oxygen-rich environment. This environmentally friendly and cost-effective system requires minimal maintenance as long as only organic matter is flushed.
